Uncover the beautiful healthy skin beneath your scar with the gold standard in scar removal treatments

A scar is a result of the skin’s natural healing process. Though it is a completely natural part of the bodies healing process, a scar’s appearance can be unpleasant. Their appearance can vary greatly from person to person due to the type and location of the injury and due to factors such as age, gender, ethnicity, and genetics. However, scars are often thicker, pinker, redder, or shinier than the rest of the skin. They will fade over time, but never go away completely. If the way a scar looks bothers you, there are several treatment options at NewDermaMed to help minimize them.

We are proud to offer this service at both our downtown Toronto and North York locations and are happy to service customers from the Mississauga area.

TYPES OF SCARS

Keloid scars
Appear “tough,” raised and smooth, with a pink or purple color often spread beyond the original injured area.

Hypertrophic scars
Appear raised and red like keloids, but don’t spread beyond the original site of the injury.

Contracture scars
Develop after a burn. As the skin contracts to form a scar, this tightening can be painful, sometimes even affecting muscles and nerves below.

Acne scars
Appears anywhere on the body and varies in size. Often caused by hormonal changes, and/or acne inflammation.

Soft Scars
Range from deep pits (“icepick scars”) to angular “box car scars” and wave-like “rolling scars.”

LASER SCAR REMOVAL TREATMENTS

At NewDermaMed, we offer the most advanced variety of laser therapies to treat superficial to deep scar tissue. Our treatment plans will quickly and effectively treat the different types of scars, for all skin types with minimal downtime.

FRACTIONAL LASER SKIN RESURFACING

Fractional Laser Skin Resurfacing is the most widely used laser technology for the treatment of scarring. At NewDermaMed, we offer fractional Er:Yag and Pearl Fractional laser skin resurfacing, which can effectively reduce the appearance of scars by up to 80%. This revolutionary procedure allows us to treat scars in a unique way by selectively removing the damaged skin cells with extreme control and efficacy, leaving healthy skin untouched. The procedure initiates the body’s natural healing process to create new, healthy skin cells to replace the skin imperfection.

TwinLight Fractional Rejuvenation

TwinLight Fractional Rejuvenation uses a combination of the Er:YAG laser and the Nd:YAG laser to resurface and rejuvenate the skin. The procedure is performed in two modes – ablative and non-ablative to achieve comprehensive scar removal treatment. The Nd:YAG beam aids skin rejuvenation by gently heating the dermis, stimulating the collagen regrowth. In addition, it has a micro vascular coagulation effect, which will reduce the appearance of red scars. The Er:YAG promotes cell renewal and the formation of fresh, healthy skin. It can be altered for treatment of light scar to deep scar tissue. It is suitable for all skin types and tones and can provide drastic improvement in as little as one session.

Dual Fractional Laser Skin Resurfacing

Dual Fractional Laser Skin Resurfacing offers comprehensive scar treatment using two treatment settings – the Fractional Laser and the Ultra-Laser Resurfacing. The Fractional Laser can penetrate the deepest layers of the skin to rejuvenate and renew the scar tissue. The Ultra-Laser Resufacing provides full field treatment by removing superficial skin imperfections on the skin’s surface. Dual Fractional Laser Resurfacing promotes collagen production and cell renewal, speeding up healing time. Significant improvement to the scars appearance can be seen after the first session.

RESULTS OF THE FRACTIONAL LASER ON SCARRING
