Achieve a clear complexion with the most effective laser acne treatments.

Acne vulgaris, commonly known as acne, affects people of all ages. Those living with severe acne or acne scarring can suffer profound social anxiety, depression, and social isolation. For men and women seeking acne treatment in Toronto, NewDermaMed’s team of highly skilled and compassionate professionals can find the right treatment and aftercare regiments for your needs.

Acne is caused by a build up of dirt, oil, bacteria and other substances such as dead skin cells, within the pores of the skin. Some people are more susceptible to acne than others. Those who have naturally oily skin, larger pores, or have greater exposure to acne causing bacteria, are more likely to suffer from acne. Some acne is also caused by hormonal changes such as puberty, pregnancy, menopause and hormonal birth control. People who have food sensitivities may even suffer from acne as a reaction to certain foods.

There are several different types of acne. Our clinic in Toronto treats the most common forms, including:

  • Comedones - This milder form of acne presents as blackheads and whiteheads, usually on the face.
  • Pustules - Moderate, pus-filled acne is caused when a pore becomes clogged and infected with bacteria, dead cells and a surplus of the oils normally produced by your skin. It appears on the face, arms, neck, back and legs.
  • Papules - Another moderate form of acne. Raised, red papules are caused by pores clogged with oils or bacteria, which become inflamed. Like pustules, they can appear on various bodily areas, but they do not contain pus.
  • Cysts or nodules - The most severe form of acne, sometimes develop when papules or pustules become aggravated. These large, soft, sub-surface lesions can also be painful. If hard discs also appear beneath the skin, nodulocycstic acne occurs. This in turn increases the level of pain and the risk of scarring.

If you are living with one or several of these acne conditions, NewDermaMed’s acne removal treatments is right for you. It is important to refrain from trying to scratch, squeeze, or ‘pop’ your acne – this might worsen the infection and produce scarring. It is also important to remember that acne often isn’t one’s ‘fault,’ as it’s usually a genetic condition. You deserve professional treatment to regain your confidence and be your best self.

NewDermaMed team of medical professionals uses the safest and most innovative technology customized for each client’s needs. For our acne removal treatments we use Nd:YAG Laser and intense pulsed light (IPL) technologies. These versatile tools are specifically designed to treat several forms of severe acne for a variety of skin types.

The laser emits a wavelength that penetrates through the skin and is concentrated within the overactive sebaceous (oil) glands; the root cause of acne. The heating of the sebaceous glands causes a mild thermal exertion that changes the activity and function of the glands, leading to prolonged reduction in acne breakouts. In addition to reducing the activity of the gland, the laser kills the acne causing bacteria under the skin.

It has proven to be extremely effective in rapidly bringing the inflammatory lesions of acne under control, often irresponsive to other acne therapies. In addition to the anti-inflammatory action, the laser inactivates the acne forming bacteria. Furthermore, since it targets the blood vessels, it effectively reduces the appearance of chronic red blemishes and red acne scars.

Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) is ideal for destorying acne bacteria for rapid clearance of current acne breakouts. At NewDermaMed, we use a combination of Intense Pulse Light and pore-centered suction to clear out and shrink clogged pores. With absolutely no pain and downtime, you will be able to resume to your regular activities.

Your skin will become more clear and softer, and blemishes will fade and disappear, revealing your natural, radiant skin.

To help retain your new, acne free skin and prevent the recurrence of blemishes, our medical professional will review post-treatment and long term skin care regimen.

Acne Removal Treatments

Your clinic has a treatment for Acne?
We do! Our clinic treats the most common forms of acne including: Comedones, Pustules, Papules, and Cysts/Nodules. NewDermaMed Cosmetic Clinic treats our clients that are experiencing acne with our Nd: YAG laser and Intense Pulse Light laser Technology. This allows us to use the safest and most innovative technology to suit each client’s needs.
What does the treatment do?
To begin, the laser emits a wavelength that penetrates through the skin and targets the overactive Sebaceous Glands (Oil Glands). When the sebaceous glands are heated, it causes a mild thermal injury that changes the activity of the glands. Simply stated, the glands no longer produce the same amount of oil, which is the main cause for breakouts. Also during treatment the nd:YAG Laser kills acne causing bacteria under the skin. This gives our clients better lasting results.
What about Intense Pulse Light? What does that do?
Intense Pulse Light (IPL) works hand in hand with the nd: YAG laser for treating acne. It is ideal for destroying surface bacteria for a quick clearance of current acne breakouts. When IPL is pared with a pore-centered suction to clear out clogged pores, it shrinks pores them leaving your skin looking much clearer. All of this is achieved in just one session!
Can’t I just use a medicated cream?
Medicated creams do assist with the symptoms of acne. However, with an acne treatment at our clinic, we are targeting the underlying cause beneath the skin. Medicated creams only remain on the surface of the skin and provide temporary relief. They do not focus on the root of the problem, unlike our laser treatment.
What causes Acne?
Acne is caused by a number of different factors some being: a build up of dirt and bacteria within the pores of the skin, hormonal changes, food sensitivities, and over active sebaceous glands. Acne also can affect men and women off all ages and backgrounds. Those who experience severe acne may also suffer from social anxiety, depression and social isolation. Here at NewDermaMed Cosmetic Clinic we offer a positive acne solution!
If I do decide to have a treatment, is there anything else I should be doing?
Maintain a regular skin care routine at home is imperative. Be sure to be using products that are oil free. It is also important to refrain from scratching, or squeezing the acne. This will worsen the infection as well as it will spread acne-causing bacteria to other areas. Scratching your acne will also give a higher chance of scaring.
What will my skin be like after my treatments?
Our clients see positive results right after their first session. Skin will be clearer, softer and over a short period of time blemishes will fade away exposing radiant skin beneath.
How many treatments will I need?
Depending on the severity of the acne, we might advise several sessions. If more sessions are needed they will be given two weeks apart. All of this can be determined during a FREE consultation with our Medical Professional.
If this is the treatment right for me, what’s the next step?
It would be our pleasure here at NewDermaMed Cosmetic Clinic, to book you in for a FREE consultation. During your private consultation you will be able meet our Medical Professionals as well as tour our clinic. Your FREE consultation will also allow you to discus in person any concerns you may have.
